About Elle

A teacher first. A consultant because schools asked.

Elle Peate spent fifteen years in Welsh classrooms before stepping into consultancy. She taught across primary and secondary, led whole-school curriculum work, and held senior leadership posts in schools that ranged from rural single-form entry to large urban settings.

Cultivate started because colleagues kept asking. Headteachers wanted a fresh pair of eyes, cluster leads wanted help shaping shared INSET, and the request that came up again and again was the same: someone who knows Welsh schools, who has done the work, and who will be straight with us.

The focus today is Curriculum for Wales, bespoke INSET, and the planning conversations that sit between formal training cycles. Work happens in English and Welsh, in person and remotely, with schools across the country.

A note on place

Schools across Wales, in person and remotely

From the small primaries where you can hear the slate roof creak, to the large urban secondaries with corridors that need their own postcode.

Each school is its own place. The work has to land in it on a real Tuesday morning, with the people who carry it on after I’ve gone.

What I do

Four ways I work with schools

Each engagement starts with a conversation. From there, the shape of the work is built around what your school actually needs.

    Bespoke INSET and training

Whole-staff training days designed for your school. Pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and the practical questions that come up between formal training cycles.

  • 02 / 04

    Curriculum for Wales consultancy

Curriculum design, mapping, and review. From foundation principles through to the detail of progression, skills, and the four purposes in your context.

  • 03 / 04

    Cluster and partnership work

Multi-school programmes for clusters, SIGs, and Local Authority groups. Shared INSET, joint planning, transition support across phases.

  • 04 / 04

    Leadership and strategic support

One-to-one work with headteachers and senior leaders. Self-evaluation, school improvement planning, and the conversations that don’t fit anywhere else.

How we work together

How a typical engagement runs

Every school is different, but the shape of the work tends to follow the same four steps.

  1. 01

    Conversation

An informal call to understand where you are, what you’re trying to do, and whether I’m the right fit for it.

  2. 02

    Diagnostic

A short piece of work — site visit, document review, conversations with staff — to ground the plan in your context.

  3. 03

    Delivery

Bespoke INSET, planning days, or one-to-one work, designed and run for your team.

  4. 04

    Follow-up

Check-ins after the work lands, with practical adjustments based on how it’s playing out.

How I work

An approach built in Welsh classrooms

I’ve sat in the staffroom on a wet Tuesday in November. The ideas have to work there, or they don’t work at all.

    Listen first

Every school is different. Before anything else, I want to understand where you are, what’s working, and where the friction is.

  • 02 /

Build with you, not at you

The best change comes from inside the staffroom. My job is to bring tools, evidence, and a fresh pair of eyes, not to hand down answers.

  • 03 /

    Stay practical

Theory matters. So does what happens at 8:30am on a Monday. Everything I do has to land in real classrooms with real teachers and real time pressure.

Genuinely the best INSET we’ve had in years. Practical, evidence-led, and Elle clearly knows Welsh schools inside out.
